DECLARED VALUE FOR CARRIAGE VS ADDITIONAL VALUE SURCHARGE
Universal Package Systems Limited (UPSL) will provide carriage for shipments according to the following limited liability structure:
STANDARD DECLARED VALUE FOR CARRIAGE
UPSL will be liable up to a limit of TT $500.00 per shipment, in the event of loss or damage. Should the customer require or desire a higher value for carriage this will be approved, upon payment of an Additional Value Surcharge for transport of the item, based on the declared value for carriage. The maximum declared value and legal responsibility of UPSL is TT $10,000.00 per shipment.
VALUE SURCHARGE:
For shipments with a Declared Value, between TT $501.00 and TT $1100.00 an additional TT 15.00 is to be paid as "minimum additional value for carriage surcharge" For shipments with a declared value over TT TT $1100.00, a "value for carriage surcharge" of 2.5% of the declared value stated will apply (after the first $500)
PROHIBITED ARTICLES FOR CARRIAGE
UPSL will not accept the following items for carriage:
- Ammunition
- .P.O. (To a Post Office Box)
- Articles of unusual value
- Bodily fluids and tissue
- Cash/money orders
- Corpses
- Human remains
- Industrial diamonds
- Ivory
- Letters of Credit shipments
- Live animals
- Precious stones
- Stamps
- Perishables
- Narcotics
- Firearms
- Arms and ammunition
- Illegal Materials
UPSL will not be held liable for damages sustained to packages which were caused due to improper or inadequate packaging.
